Clothes that take two or more cycles to dry are the most common sign. When lint builds up in the vent line, hot, moist air can't escape, so the dryer runs longer and works harder.
If the top of the dryer or the laundry room feels unusually hot, or clothes come out hotter than normal, the heat isn't leaving the way it should. A burning smell while the dryer runs is a sign to stop and get it checked.
Go outside while the dryer is running and look at the exterior vent hood. You should feel strong airflow and see the flap open. Weak airflow, a stuck flap, or lint collecting around the opening all point to a blockage.
Vent lines that are long, run through a crawlspace, or are made of crushed foil flex pipe clog faster. We clean the full line from the dryer to the outside and repair or replace damaged sections.
First-time Cusuco Crawlspace customers get a free dryer vent cleaning. It's a good way to get to know us and a smart safety check for your home.
